Russian Nutcracker

The Christmas tale of the Russian Nutcracker starts out at a family party when Uncle Drosselmeyer is handing out presents.  Everyone gets a gift except the daughter, Masha.  At the end of the party, she asks her uncle where her gift is, and he hands her a wonderful Nutcracker toy.  She absolutely falls in love with it until her jealous brother breaks it.  While everyone is sleeping, Uncle Drosselmeyer fixes the toy.  Masha thinks she hears mice in her room and starts to panic.  The nutcracker doll comes to life and starts to fight against the mice.  The Mouse King is injured and the mice retreat.  The doll turns into a handsome prince and they are escorted to the Land of Peace and Harmony by the Snow Maiden and Father Christmas.

Act two takes place in the Land of Peace and Harmony.  Masha’s dolls are all welcoming her and the prince to the peaceful Christmas night where different couples are showing their heritages’ spirit dances.  The play concludes with Masha and the Prince thanking everyone for the lovely evening.  Masha then wakes up in her bedroom to find the Nutcracker toy by her side.

The Nutcracker will be performed at the Lima Civic Center on November 6, 2017. Come watch as Emily Schroeder performs as a lovely snow maiden that escorts the prince and Masha into the Land of Peace and Harmony!
