Spotlight On: Heidelberg University

Is there anyone at Leipsic who wants to pursue a career in music? Or still haven’t decided on a university to study at? Yes? Well then I have the college for you!

Heidelberg is located in Tiffin, Ohio, so you’ll never lose the small town feel, if you enjoy that more than the rhythm of the city, as I do. Heidelberg was founded in 1850. Also, the average class size is 19 people, making it much more convenient and personal than places like Ohio State, where the class average is usually around 300 students.

At Heidelberg University, there are multiple majors having to do with many different interests.

Heidelberg has a lot of programs in Music, including Music Education, Music and Business, Music Performance, and Music Theory and Composition. But, Heidelberg isn’t just about music, as there are many other majors to choose from! (For a list of majors, go to https://www.heidelberg.edu/academics/programs).

Heidelberg also offers a wide array of sports to participate in from football to soccer, baseball to golf, cross country to volleyball. Heck, they even have lacrosse and wrestling! (To see all of the Heidelberg sports options, go to  http://athletics.heidelberg.edu/landing/index).

Heidelberg’s facility is one of the nicest I’ve seen in my opinion. Each dorm room has a bed,¬†dresser, desk, chair, bookshelf, and a wardrobe/closet for each student. There are computers with printers and laundry free for students in the common areas. There are kitchens and lounges in every hallway. Each hall is also WiFi enabled, with additional wired connectors at the dorm desks. So if you bring a desktop computer, there is a wired internet cable to hook to it. As long as you register, you are allowed to have an overnight guest (with the consent of roommate). There are gyms, and church services and groups, all kinds of things.

All around, Heidelberg would be a great college to attend, no matter what your interest.
