Why Do They Consider Fantasy Football Illegal?

Approximately 75 million people play fantasy football in the United States. There are many different ways to play. The first way you can play fantasy football is by creating a league and drafting your players. This lasts all of the regular season. The next way you can play is by signing up to use Fanduel. The way you play Fanduel is by choosing which cost for the entry you want and then you have to choose a team and not exceed the salary of $60,000. You change your team every week and choose a different entry. Draftkings is very similar to Fanduel, just a different app.

Why do they think fantasy football is illegal? They are considering fantasy football as gambling because people are betting a lot of money on the game. You can join groups from $3-$300. Eric Schneiderman said, “What the daily fantasy sports sites do to make this worse, is they run ads” and that they enforce the law which makes it worse. He thinks that advertisements for Fanduel and Draftkings, which they consider illegal, are worse since the advertisements encourage more people to join. Some states are not allowing Fanduel and Draftkings to be played in their state now.

There are states that have said they will not allow Fanduel and Draftkings to be played in their state. Those states are Washington, Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, Iowa, Louisiana, and Alabama. All of the other states will allow people to be on Fanduel and Draftkings. So if you are planning to sign up for Draftkings or Fanduel in these areas, you will have to get a license to be able to sign up.
