Running into 2018

LHS cross-country is now run by head coach Miss Stacy Campbell. She was the team’s assistant last year, but she is now taking the reigns of the team. The team has been training very hard this year so far by doing timed runs, hill work, and sprint work. The girl’s team consists of Emma Niese, Morgan Niese, Claire Rigel, Peyton Henry, Kelly Scheckelhoff, and Stevie Brooks. The boy’s team consists of Chris Basinger, Wesley Garcia, and Ethan Chambers. The team may not have too much size, but they have a lot of heart.

I asked Morgan Niese, pictured above, what her favorite meet of the season is. ¬†She said, “My favorite meet is Columbus Grove.” The girl’s team is looking forward to working toward a trophy this year. The boys are looking to better themselves and push each other even though they will not be able to compete as a team. Due to not having five runners on the boy’s team, they will not be able to run as a team. They will each be running to get their own medals. Since the girls have six runners, they will be able to run strong together to get that big trophy they’ve been wanting for three years now. Good-luck to the cross country team this year and all other Viking teams!
