Blockbuster Season is Coming Soon!

As the summer draws closer, the conversations about the blockbuster movie season are heating up. This season is when some of the biggest, most-talked-about movie events of the year come to theaters. Many people are off for the summer, so this time of the year is the perfect season to release big movies to even bigger audiences. This year the summer movie season starts off with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, one of the most anticipated films of the year. Below, I have a list of some of the most exciting movie releases of the summer. It’s the perfect way to prep you on what you want to see the most!

  • May 5, Guardians of the Guardians Vol. 2– The first of Marvel’s three movies lined up for this year, this is the sequel to the popular surprise hit of 2014, Guardians of the Galaxy. The returning Guardians, led by Peter Quill(Chris Pratt) return to save the galaxy once again and unravel the mystery of Quill’s father. Expect there to be more catchy throwback songs, irreverent humor, a cute baby Groot, and a fun time all around!
  • June 16th, Cars 3– The hit Pixar automobile characters return for the final movie of the trilogy. This time around, Lightning McQueen(voiced by Owen Wilson) has to recover from a big accident and prove himself with the help of his friends. Expect great racing visuals and a beautiful movie to see with the family.
  • May 26th, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales– Captain Jack Sparrow(Johnny Depp) comes back for another long-awaited, swashbuckling adventure! When ghost pirate Captain Salazar(Javier Bardem) comes looking for revenge, Jack must look for the Trident of Poseidon in order to survive.
  • June 30th, Despicable Me 3– Gru(voiced by Steve Carell) and the Minions are back again for another wild and colorful adventure. Gru must enlist the help of his brother Dru in order to stop the former ’80s child star, villain Balthazar Bratt, from taking over the world.
  • July 7th, Spiderman-Homecoming– Peter Parker(Tom Holland) comes to the big screen once again as The Amazing Spider-Man. With the help of Tony Stark/Iron Man(Robert Downey Jr.), Peter must use his new suit and powers to rescue the city of New York from a terrorist known as The Vulture. The problem is, he still needs to do his homework and make it home in time for dinner!
  • July 21st, Dunkirk– One of the only original movies of the blockbuster season, it’s sure to be a hit, especially since it comes from acclaimed director, Christopher Nolan. The movie takes place during WW2 when the evacuation of Dunkirk was going on. Christopher Nolan always gives his all when he makes a movie, so it’s sure to be a hit.
  • June 2nd, Wonder Woman– This is the first of two DC Comics superhero movies coming out this year. From Warner Bros. comes the origin story of one of DC’s bravest heroines. Diana(Gal Gadot), Princess of the Amazons, meets an American pilot(Chris Pine) and goes away from her homeland in order to save the world and discover her true destiny.

The blockbuster movie season has already begun and will continue on throughout the summer. Be sure to go to the theaters and see the movies you’re looking forward to watching with family and friends this summer!
