A new event is coming to our school soon! The school has decided that students who qualify can go on little field trips called “Fun Fridays.” The requirements include: don’t miss any more than two days, have a C or above, and no discipline referrals. For the first Fun Friday for the third quarter, all high school students who qualify are going to the Shannon Theater to see “Hidden Figures.” The movie promotional picture can be seen above. The Junior High will be going March 24th to watch the movie, and the High School will be going on April 7th. We have around 100 students who are able to go, so it already seems that Fun Fridays are a success!
Our school decided on starting Fun Fridays after the school felt that the students needed fun incentives to help them concentrate on their studies and receive positive awards and reinforcement. If certain students met specific requirements and were rewarded for their hard work, all students would strive to work harder and be rewarded. So far, there are other great ideas that are being thought up for future Fun Fridays. These include ice skating, rollerblading, and bowling. I think the idea is a great way to get people excited about learning!
