Many students here at LHS have a part time job, or, at the very least, one that they do during the summer. There are many benefits to having a job, even if it is only during the summer. While working, students have the opportunity to make some money.  It is also important to have, especially if you are a senior.

Some find it easier to just work during the summer, as it will not interfere with schoolwork and extra-curricular activities. One job that can be done during the summer is working at the Leipsic Pool, which is run by the YMCA. Jobs that you can do at the pool include lifeguarding, concessions, and taking money at the front counter. Another job that can be done is to be a summer camp counselor, which most employers require you to be 18 years old for. The duties for camp counselors will vary, but often require monitoring a group of campers and doing activities with them.

Many jobs around here are year around but will adjust working hours during the school year. Some places to work around here include Subway, Viking Korner, and Pizzaria in Leipsic, along with Walmart, Little Caesar’s, Pizza Hut, and some fast food restaurants in Ottawa. At the restaurants, duties will mostly include making food, taking money, and/or seating people.

Brittany Perez, pictured above, works at Little Caesar’s and says that it gets tiring sometimes, but it’s nice to get the money.
