It’s that time of the year again! Every year, the NBA hosts the All-Star game. There are a lot of different things that go on throughout the whole weekend. This year, All-Star Weekend will take place in New Orleans. The Celebrity Game kicks off the weekend starting on Friday, February 17. This game is entertaining to watch just to see what celebrities are participating and seeing which celebrities are actually good at basketball. After the Celebrity game is the Rising Stars Challenge. This is a game between the leagues up and coming stars. The two teams are split into the World Team and the U.S. Team. Some of the big names in this game for the World Team are Joel Embiid, Buddy Hield, and Kristaps Porzingis. The big names for the U.S. Team are Devin Booker, D’Angelo Russel, and Karl-Anthony Towns.

On Saturday, February 18 is the Taco Bell Skills Challenge. This a challenge where players display their dribbling, shooting, and passing skills. The participants in this event are Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins, Gordon Hayward, Isaiah Thomas, John Wall, Devin Booker, Kristaps Porzingis, and Joel Embiid. The next is the All-Star Three-Point Contest. In this challenge, players have to shoot 5 balls from 5 different spots and try to get the highest score. The participants in this event are Klay Thompson, Kyrie Irving, Kyle Lowry, Kemba Walker, Eric Gordon, Wesley Matthews, C.J. McCollum, and Nick Young. Finally, is the Verizon Slam Dunk Contest. This is always one of the most entertaining things to watch because it is interesting to see what insane dunks the players will attempt. The participants for this event are DeAndre Jordan, Glenn Robinson III, Aaron Gordon, and Derrick Jones Jr..

The game that most people look forward to is the NBA All-Star Game. This year’s game is the 66th Annual All-Star Game. There a lot of big names that will be in this game. From the East, there are Lebron James, Kyrie Irving, and Giannis Antetokounmpo. From the West, there are Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant, and James Harden. The Golden State Warriors have 4 players playing in this year’s All-Star Game (Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Kevin Durant). When I asked Miguel Balcarcel who he thought would win the game, he said, “The West always win because they have better teams and better players.” Dallas Diaz said, “I think the East is going to win because they have Isaiah Thomas.”
