Military Appreciation

On Friday, January 2o, schools across Ohio came together with a common theme for the basketball games that night: Military. A lot of schools took this night to show our appreciation and to honor the men and women who have served our country. Before the game, the Veterans in attendance were honored with a round of applause. Some Veterans also served as honorary captains for both teams. Both Leipsic and Vanlue’s basketball teams wore military-themed warm-ups before the game.

When I asked Hunter Meyer what he thought of the theme, he said, “I think it was a good experience. It showed respect to the Veterans in our area. I hope they continue this tradition.” Alec Schroeder, pictured above, said, “I thought it was nice to honor Veterans and those who are currently serving.” I think this was a great way to show our appreciation to those who have served our country. Having schools from across Ohio come together for a common theme to show our appreciation was a great idea. We can’t thank our Veterans enough for all that they do.
