Winter Sports Update!!
Winter weather is here as are winter sports. The boys varsity basketball record is at 5 and 3 at the time this article was written. The girls varsity basketball record at half way through the season is 9 and 3. The boys team has had three overtime games in their basketball season so far, winning 2 of the 3 overtime games. A big game for both teams is January 14, 2016 playing the Columbus Grove bulldogs. I asked Dylan Schroeder what the game plan was for the boys varsity basketball game against Columbus Grove. He replied with, “We went over plays and worked on having a stronger defense.”
The Lady Vikes have been on a big run, winning nine games in a row. They starting the winning run with McComb and had it stopped with a defeat to Arlington January 12, with a score of 62-48. The Vikings were keeping up with Arlington, and for a large portion of the game, they were battling back and forth. In the last 3 minutes of the game, the Vikings began falling behind and eventually finished with a loss of 18 points. I asked Heather Lammers, pictured above, what she was excited about with the Columbus Grove “pink game for the cure.” She replied with, “It is always an exciting game with everything that is going on.” The LHS Cheer squad has also been working hard this season and is working on their dance for the last game.
