Is A Gym Membership Worth It?
Is a gym membership worth it or is it better to workout on your own? As we enter winter, many people are trying to stay active. Joining a gym is a great way to stay active in the winter. By joining a gym, it is much warmer and safer than running or walking outside. Running outside in the winter can be very dangerous because of the ice. Many people also prefer not to be freezing cold when they are working out. Even in the summer, a gym is much safer than running alone. For busy people, a gym membership may be very nice because people can run at night without being in the dark. The gym is also not only good for running, but they also have many other machines and weights. There is more of a variety of things to do than at your own home. Many gyms also offer free classes with their memberships.This can be a great way to mix up your workout so you don’t get bored and also a great way to work muscles you wouldn’t normally use.
Even though a gym has more variety of machines than in our own homes, there are still some ways you can get a great workout at home. You could look up workouts on Pinterest or YouTube that do not require any equipment. You could also consider buying Insanity. This is a workout video you can do at home. You could consider buying a treadmill, elliptical, or your favorite machine for your own home. Even though these machines may be quite expensive, they are great if you are looking to workout long term and you wouldn’t have to drive to use them which would save you money on gas. Also, there are not many gyms is our area so you might have a long drive to get to a gym. There are Peak and the YMCA in Ottawa, but not many other gyms to choose from in our area.
