County Band and Choir is an honor to be a part of for the few who make it in to these groups. This year, the auditions were held in Kalida. For people like me who tried out and didn’t make it, it was a little upsetting, but I really didn’t mind. For other people, though, it probably meant much more to them. One reason that a majority of the people didn’t get in this year is the music. Me being a percussionist made it very difficult to do well with the music. The music was college level, and we had about two weeks to memorize the song. Choir was the same sort of situation. You had to memorize the song and sight read music as well. I asked some people how they felt when they auditioned, and this is what they said.
Cheyanne Fleck – “I was freaking out and was shaking, and then I started tearing up and at that moment I knew I wasn’t going to get into County Choir.”
Elyse Schroeder said that she felt nervous when she attempted her audition.
Breanna Ellerbrock- “I wasn’t nervous at all and that I was confident, it makes your voice sound better.”
Micah Flores- “I felt very worried about my scales and rhythms in the songs in the tryouts, that were required.”
Eric Williamson- “I was nervous then I became calmer when looking at the music more.”
Congrats to all who made it.
